Talking Points for Your Call

1. Your most fundamental responsibility is deciding how much money the government takes in and how much it spends. To do this job responsibly, you need a budget.

2. As a member of the grassroots movement No Labels, I agree with Senator Dean Heller, the Senate should hold a vote on the No Budget, No Pay Act (S. 1981) during consideration of the various FY2013 budget resolutions this week on the Senate floor. Please urge Senators Reid and McConnell to schedule that vote.

3. According to the bill, if the congressional spending process is not completed by the start of the government's fiscal year on October 1, congressional pay ceases. Your salary would not be paid until you completed your job.

4. Only four times in the past 60 years has Congress passed a concurrent budget resolution and all appropriations bills on time

5. It's time to hold government accountable. Please send a signal that you are willing to put some skin in the game to solve the dysfunction in Washington.

I asked about HR 3643 (the person on the phone when to ask, might have been asking the Senator direct); status, undecided.
